Located on the busy intersection of Law College Road and Nal Stop (actually a little before that) is a small eatery one would easily overlook. But one visit and you will understand the meaning of the saying, “In our fast paced lives, we often overlook the best things in life”.
The place was started by Anil Paranjape and his wife after they settled back in Pune after living abroad for most of their life. Mr. Paranjape works in the field of sustainable energy and even without having any background in food making he decided to start this place only for his longing for the various dishes he tasted around the world. And the place delivers various different dishes at affordable rates.
Ambience:
The place is a simple joint, but it’s strikingly clean and gives a feel of a café. Though you do not get cushioned chairs or comfortable sofas the simple furniture is enough to serve the purpose. You’ll notice various paintings on the walls and the owner tells us they display paintings of various artistes at their place.
Food and Drinks:
The place does not serve alcohol, and the drinks are quite okay. But the food is class apart. The owner’s sustainable energy background makes its presence felt as the food is served in a very intricate way and in clean plates. They somehow make tasty food look tastier by the way it is arranged and served. The speciality would be their sandwiches or pitawiches for it’s their bread that works most of the magic. They make it themselves and it’s amazingly soft and tasty. They even make the sauces themselves and their attention to detail reflects with amazingly tasty food. They have a variety of omelettes, pastas, desserts and yes the usual chicken biryani and kheemas as well. Their tiramisu is well received for its price and taste, and we loved gorging on the Chocolate Daffodil.
Service
The service is good and we got our food on time without having to wait much. The place also hosts events like screenings of documentaries and others, so subscribe to their newsletter to get information on various events and workshops that take place there. http://grubshup.com/grubshup-newsletters/
Verdict
Having already given a lot of praises to the place, I sum up saying that the place is amazing for snacks and a simple cup of coffee, or a hard core meal as well. It’s easy on your wallet and wonderful for your appetite. Try it out. Oh, and its coming to Aundh very soon, near Chrome Megastore.
