Xolo X900 Review
Info Guide — By Vedvrat Shikarpur on August 18, 2012 at 8:00 AMLaunched by an Indian company named lava, the phone, Xolo, is amazing! With Nokia losing its number one status, and Samsung, Apple and LG taking over the mobile market, I failed to see how an Indian company will stack up to such competition. But xolo has done everything right. Nowhere will you see the Lava label, not on the box, nor on the phone.
The fancy thing is that xolo is the first mobile phone with an Intel processor. Lava’s collaboration with the world’s best processor maker was the best decision the company must have ever made. Lava struck gold. Xolo boasts of a 1.6 Ghz Intel atom processor, 8MP camera, and a 400 mhz graphic engine. These are specs that can put the Samsung galaxy S2 to shame.
To go in detail, the processor has hyper threading, which is available to most computer processors. The Intel atom processor has competition only with cell phones providing quad core processors, most of which are way out of most people’s price range. Another plus point is that the phone has a unique resolution, 1024×600. This makes HD video viewing an awesome experience. Also, it has gorilla glass, like most Samsung and Nokia phones, ensuring sturdiness. The 8MP camera ensures crisp picture quality, and stacks up as a decent camera phone. With 16 GB internal memory, and 1GB ram, the phone has got everything right. In looks, well, the phone replicates an elite phone, looking rich and expensive. It has good battery life due to Intel’s hyper threading technology, and the graphic memory ensures the phone never lags, meaning you can play a game and a video without any delay.
Multi tasking is what this phone boasts of. It’s staked with fast processing, which means applications work faster. The providers are so sure the phone will never lag, they provide a non removable battery. And it does work as fast as promised. Another plus point for xolo is that it comes with android 2.3, upgradable to 4.0
Priced at Rs.22,000, the phone is every bit worth the price. The only cons is the non removable battery, which some might not like, but is definitely not a necessity. For some unknown reason, the phone requires micro SIM card, when most service providers don’t give a micro SIM. This means your SIM card has to be cut at the edges, something done at a minimal cost. Though the phone has 16GB internal memory, there is no option for external memory. Also, the company lava has very few service centres. So in case of breakdown, one will have to search of the Lava service centre and travel long distances, if required. But in comparison with its nearest competitor, Samsung galaxy S3, it is almost half the price.
Finally, it all comes down to a matter of how much you are ready to shell out. If all you want is a good android phone with basic features and minimum price, the xolo X900 is the phone for you.
