Every year the rains bring with it numerous illnesses. Doctors and parents advice that you watch what you eat and preferable eat home cooked food. My mother’s not different. Every year during the months of these showers she dishes out some delectable treats for me. Here I am sharing some recipes that I so love to gorge on.

Momos – The Tibetan treat

Preparation Time: 20 Minutes

Cooking Time: 15 Minutes

Pieces: 8 Momos

For the momo wrapper

  • Sieve the flour and salt together.
  • Add warm water and knead well to make soft dough. Keep it aside for half an hour, covered with a damp muslin cloth.
  • Divide the dough into 8 equal portions.
  • Roll out each portion into approximately 3″ diameter circle for the momo wrapper.
  • Keep this aside as well and cover with a damp muslin cloth.

To make the Momos

  • Place a momo wrapper on a flat dry surface.
  • Put 2 teaspoons of the filling in the centre.
  • Fold over to make a semi-circle.
  • Pinch at the outer rim to join the ends.
  • Repeat the same procedure for the remaining Momos.
  • Arrange the Momos in a steamer plate and steam for 10 minutes.
  • Serve hot with chilli- garlic sauce.

Adrak Chai – A monsoon must have

This is a default monsoon must have which doesn’t need a recipe that one needs to follow. If you are not much of a coffee or hot chocolate fan, then the traditional adrak chai is your pick. For all those who still have the recipe, while making your tea add grated or small pieces of ginger so that the tea takes in the aroma of the ginger. And the rest is just like making your usual tea.

So now all you have to do is sit back and bite into those delicious treats and sip your piping hot drink.
