National Harmony 2012
The Akhil Bharatiya Sanskrutik Sangh and the UNESCO will jointly organise a cultural extravaganza, ‘National Harmony 2012′ . This is the eighth year of the event, which will see the participation of over 8,000 artists from 18 different States of the country. Various competitions for theatre plays, classical music singing, painting, rangoli, folk dances, traditional dances will be held as a part of the festival.
There will be over 1,500 performances during the festival. Addressing the media, Ratna Wagh, President of the Sangh, said the motive behind the festival is to promote the cause of national integration using various art forms like dances and plays. Last year’s festival ‘National Harmony 2011′ was recognised by the Limca Book of Records as the largest competition held at the national level in India.

Biodiversity Summer Camp
This summer, teenagers and youths have an opportunity to learn different components of biodiversity, and also get hands on training in identification of pug marks and different species of birds and animals among other exciting activities.
The Pune Municipal Corporation-managed Rajiv Gandhi Zoological Park and Wildlife Research Centre at Katraj will be organising a three-day free summer camp on the occasion of International Biodiversity Day, which falls on May 22. Individuals of age group between 15 and 25 years can attend the camp, commencing from May 21.
The objective of the summer camp is to enhance participants’ knowledge about the biodiversity. Different sessions on various topics such as biodiversity and its components like birds, reptiles and mammals along with legal aspects of wildlife conservation will take place during the camp with the help of prominent resource persons, Rajiv Gandhi Zoological Park education officer Ashwini Shitole said.
The summer camp would also expose participants to various aspects of zoo management.
