diabetes_2

Diabetes is a chronic disease that affects millions of people worldwide. In India, diabetes is fast becoming a commonly used term as more and more people are falling prey to it. Diabetes is a metabolic disorder where in there is excessive sugar in one’s body which leads to certain health complications. Doctors refer to it as the silent killer and it often goes undetected for a long time but the damage is done internally.

Types of Diabetes

Type 1 diabetes is caused due to an insulin deficiency in the body and the patient requires insulin injection.
Type 2 diabetes, also known as adult onset diabetes or non insulin dependent diabetes is caused due to insulin resistance.

SHARAN, India an NGO connected with health and nutrition has helped many people reverse type 2 diabetes. This means that these patients have been able to completely go off all medication. There will be a daylong workshop on the same.

Highlights of the workshop

• The workshop focuses on reversal of type 2 Diabetes and improving type 1 Diabetes.

• Type 2 diabetes can be reversed through correct eating habits. The workshop will talk how one can do so by adjusting one’s cooking methods.

• Exercises will be conducted to help understand metal patterns so one can work towards dealing with faulty eating habits.

And much more….

This workshop has its foundation on the work of Dr Neal Barnard, MD and others who have conducted numerous studies on diabetes and have found the cause to be dietary fat which causes insulin resistance. This information is detailed in a book, Dr Neal Barnard’s Program for Reversing Diabetes. If you make appropriate changes in the choice of food and the way you cook, it can actually reverse the disease!
