Day 8: Closing ceremony of PIFF 2012 at City Pride, Kothrud

These three words lead us to a totally new world. In the last few days, the city experienced the outcome of these words. The Punekars were exposed to some outstanding national and international showcase of talent. It felt as if it was just yesterday that the 10th Pune International Film Festival had commenced. The movie packed days passed in a jiffy!
The event commenced with an electrifying performance by Top Dog Brass, a German band which had been specially invited for the closing ceremony. Couple with them we had our very own tutari played.
Some of the awards given were as follows:
Government of Maharashtra, Sant Tukaram Award for the best film was given to ‘Ha Bharat Maza’ directed by Sumitra Bhave and Sunil Suktankar. Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Chitrapat Maha Mandal award for Best Marathi Film director was given to Umesh Kulkarni for the film ‘Deool’. Audience award for Best Marathi film was given to Sujay Dahake for the film ‘Shala’.
In the world cinema competition, Prabhat Best International film award was given to German film ‘If Not Us, Who?’ by director Andres Veiel. The best international film director in world cinema competition was awarded to Asghar Farhadi for the film Nadir and Simin: A separation. The special jury award was given to the Russian Film Sparrow. The audience award for the Best Film in world cinema was give to director Somnath Gupta for the film Sound of Love.
It was an eventful evening with some of the best talents being awarded. The event ended with the screening of Best International Film If Not Us, Who?’
