Indian Express: As Many as 11,000 employees city’s transport undertaking PMPML have received a hike of over 30 per cent in their monthly salaries. This has been done as per the New Wage Scales, based on the recommendations of the 6th Pay Commission. The Union described it as a New Year gift.
A N Anpur, general secretary of the PMT Kamgar Sangh (INTUC), said the Union had submitted 60 demands to PMPML administration. “Of these, administration has taken action on first six demands by signing an industrial agreement with the union. The increased amount will be paid to the employees with effect from December,” he said. Anpur said the Union had been agitating and holding discussions with the PMPML administration for long. “We had met the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister in this regard. We had urged them to make financial assistance available to both the civic bodies (PMC and PCMC) which would then assist the PMPML. Accordingly, the transport utility received assistance from the civic bodies,” he said.
Anpur said the PMPML employees till now were receiving salaries in accordance with the wage agreement signed for 1997-2007. “The new wage pact has boosted the morale of the employees who will now work with renewed enthusiasm,” he said.
“The hike ranges from 30 to 35 per cent ,” said Union president Rajendra Kharade. The Union credited its office-bearers Rajendra Kharade, A N Anpur, Javed Khan, Tatya Bhosale, Naseeurdin Inamdar, Atul Malwankar and Shailendra Jagtap for the breakthrough. The Union has expressed its gratitude to PMPML CMD R N Joshi, Joint MD Satish Kulkarni and the administration.
PMPML spokesperson Deepak Pardeshi confirmed that the New Wage Scale would be made applicable to the employees from December salary.
