Times of India: Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) will distribute forms for the inclusion and deletion of names in the voters’ list through the citizens facilitation centres (CFC) from Monday. Municipal commissioner Ashish Sharma on Monday said that the union and state election commissions will conduct a special drive from October 1 to increase the voters’ percentage for the elections to the 10 municipal corporations next year.
Sharma said, “The election commission wants more urban voters to exercise their franchise as they are reluctant to cast their votes.” The civic body will make the forms available at the CFCs from Monday for citizens to enroll their names, make changes and for deletion of names from the list.Voters can check whether their name figures in the list through the search option on three websites: ; http://ceo.maharashtra. gov.in ; www.pcmcelection. org. The information is available in Marathi and English languages. The voter will get information about the name, address, assembly constituency of the voter through these websites. They can also send an SMS to VoterpcmcFirst NameMiddle NameSurname and send to 56677.
The officials from the election department of PCMC gave a presentation on the method to check the name on the state election commission’s website. Sharma said, “The number of polling booths will have to increase as there will be two wards in each panel. The voter will have to cast two votes which will require more time.”
