PMPML opens Facebook account

Sakaal Times: Now, you can win Rs 1,000 if you manage to capture the photo of a PMPML bus driver talking on the mobile phone while driving. All you have to do is share the photo along with other details to PMPML on its Facebook account.
After the city traffic police, it is now the turn of the city transport utility to reach out to netizens to involve them for constructive changes, with PMPML announcing the opening of its account on social-networking site Facebook, on Saturday.
The move, which is coinciding with the commencement of state-level fortnight-long road safety drive, also offers commuters some respite in the matters of getting back loose change from bus conductors.
Commuters can claim change after getting tickets from concerned depot managers by sharing the details on PMPML’s Facebook account. The PMPML, which ferries on an average 12 lakh commuters daily, including major chunk of youth, is being aided by Janwani, an NGO supported by MCCIA and New Indictrans Technologies Pvt Ltd, for creating an online platform for communicating with commuters through Facebook,” PMPML public relations officer D A Pardeshi told Sakàl Times
The city traffic police, in November last year, had opened its account on Facebook through which citizens were asked to report instances of vehicles parked on footpaths and cycle tracks and use of fancy number plates. Anticipating a large following to its Facebook campaign, PMPML authorities said that its initiative of reaching out to people online would improve the efficiency of public transport.
