The conference is supported by the Department of Heavy Industries and NATRiP. The inauguration of the AM&M 2010 will be done by Vilasrao Deshmukh, Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises.

The International Conference, AM&M 2010 – with its theme of ‘Sustainable Mobility…. through Materials and Manufacturing’, will provide a knowledge sharing and networking platform where experts from industry, academia and research institutes will deliver keynotes and technical papers on trends and recent advances in these areas, said a press release.

The exposition, AM&M Expo 2010, being organized concurrently, will showcase latest products, and technological advancements from leading organisations. There will be a panel discussion on ‘Challenges in New Generation Automotive Materials and Manufacturing: Role of industry and academia’ on the concluding day.”

Addressing a press conference, Shrikant R Marathe, director, ARAI, said the automobile market is growing at a very fast rate and the growing numbers of automobiles on roads have raised concerns about safety, environment protection, energy conservation, and recyclability. “These challenges are driving the auto industry to look for alternative solutions for sustainability, over the conventional ones.Innovations in light weight materials and structures thus have become imperative. In this struggle for meeting conflicting consumer and environmental needs, the automotive industry is poised with challenges of inventing cost effective and apt material solutions. Materials and material manufacturing processes, therefore, are the vital emerging fields,” he said.

The expo will have 56 stalls. The exhibitors include Bosch, Sick, Mahr, Combat, Atlas Copco, Transvalor, TAL Mfg Systems, DSM, iCAT, Faro, Makino, TUV Rheinland, Volkswagen, VelTech University, ARAI & ARAI FID, among others.”
