The portal, www.pandhari.org, being developed by a web solutions company Glocal Digi Comm, will have details like the number of days waris will stay in a city and the route of the yatra. The portal will also have information on the history of the Pandharpur yatra and the saints associated with it.
Music composer Kaushal Inamdar of Marathi Abhimaan Geet fame will formally launch the portal on July 5. Others on the advisory panel of the portal include actor Subodh Bhave and Sharvari Jeminice.
The portal aims to create awareness about the yatra and Bhakti Movement saints among the youth. Initially, it will be in Marathi, but later it will also be available in English and German.
Rahul Shiledar, founder director of Glocal Digi Comm, said, “Reading habits are steadliy declining among youngsters. Though there are books on the culture of saints of Maharashtra, they are hardly read by youth. Reaching out to them through digital media is much more easier. We have a lot of research scholars from Germany who wants to want to know about Indian culture and tradition. We are open to starting it in other languages if we get requests from people.”
