For a Zen like experience

If you’re looking for delicious Chinese food along with some time alone with your loved ones, well, Zen is the place for you.  The restaurant is located in the first bylane when you take a right from Dnyaneshwar Paduka of FC Road to go to Modern College. A wooden fencing covers the restaurant which kind of adds an element of mystique, making you wonder what’s inside.

And as soon as you enter, to unravel what is in store for you, the warm and welcoming staff of the restaurant guides you inside the restaurant. The restaurant is hardly a 25-30 seater hotel with three different seating options. They have an outdoor section and an indoor section which is divided in two different levels.

The restaurant has decor keeping in mind the food they serve.  They have bamboo and palm trees and gold fish tanks, two symbols considered to be lucky as per Chinese Feng Shui. The restaurant is also filled with mirrors, perfect to satisfy the narcissistic patrons.  We decided to give the ground section a miss and opted for the top sitting which is more open in comparison to the other claustrophobic sections.

As mentioned, the restaurant serves Chinese food. Their menu is not too extensive but quite personalised, which makes decision making quite easy. To begin with, they are quite popular for their clear soup variety. Their four treasure soup or even the chicken wonton soup is light and really delicious with the right amount of pepper seasoning, perfect to drive the monsoon blues away. In starters you can opt for the fish fingers served with crunchy veggies and sauce or just go for the chef’s choice and you won’t be disappointed at all.

In main course, we suggest the wok hakka noodles that can be savoured with either chicken or prawns in garlic sauce. We really liked noodles which had fresh veggies with slight garlic seasoning, perfectly complementing the rich gravy of the curry served. And with the kimchi and schezwan sauce on the side, you can add the required spice to suit your palate. Needless to say, both the dishes were tasty to the hilt!

For your sweet tooth indulgence, order for the chocolate mousse or the sizzling brownie. It is a perfect way end to a perfect meal!

At the end of it all, the overall experience at Zen was really good. The food is delicious; the customer service is top notch and the ambience perfect for a cosy meal, away from curious onlookers. They are moderately priced as well. The only hitch to this place is their parking which is a huge problem for four wheelers.
