Power supply will shut down to city areas on Thursday
Sports — By The Desk on April 21, 2010 at 3:33 PMIndian Express: The Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) will shut the supply of power to several areas in the city on Thursday as the power utility’s transmission company has undertaken the work of repairing the cable lines.
The Maharashtra State Electrical Transmission Company Limited (MSETCL) will be undertaking the repair work of 100 KV High tension line from Ganeshkhind to Chinchwad. Hence the areas at the Ganeshkhind sub station including Model Colony, Fergusson College Road and others areas will face a power cut from 6 am to 8 pm.
Similarly the 132 KV line from Talegaon sub station and 22 KV line at Tathawade will be repaired and hence areas under these sub stations will be affected. Work will also be undertaken on the 132 KV Chinchwad- Maval line, an official statement issued here said.
Meanwhile, Vivek Velankar, president of the Sajag Grahak Manch has in a letter to State Chief Secretary has demanded that filing of cases against high tension consumers under section 127 should be decentralised at the district level for speedy redressal of pending grievances.
According to Velankar, the authority to decide on appeals regarding high tension consumers in the state rests with the Chief Electrical Inspector.
Based on an RTI application Velankar said that data was obtained that as many as Rs 9.5 crore worth of appeals were pending with the chief electrical inspector. As many as 50 appeal cases filed by high tension (HT) consumers in the state under section 127 of Electricity Act 2003 challenging action taken against them for unauthorised use of electricity have been pending with the chief electrical inspector- some of them since 2005.
