MSRTC to start Pune-Bangalore Volvo bus service
News — By The Desk on February 16, 2010 at 12:03 PMIndian Express: While the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) already runs three AC buses on Pune-Bangalore route, for the first time, the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) will launch its Shivneri Volvo AC bus service between the two cities. The service will be launched on February 18 in the presence of State Transport Minister Radhakrishna Vikhe-Patil.The 14-hour journey would cost Rs 900, in which the MSRTC would provide a newspaper, mineral water bottle and a blanket to the passengers.
MSRTC runs its plain buses to Bangalore, for which a ticket costs Rs 500.
MSRTC divisional controller Shivajirao Sonawane said, “As per the agreement with the KSRTC, we got the Pune-Bangalore route to launch our Shivneri service. We will be running one bus everyday from our Swargate depot.”
The bus will depart from the Swargate depot at 5.30 pm and will reach Bangalore at 8.45 am the next day. The same bus will leave Bengaluru at 6.15 pm and reach Pune at 9.30 am.
On this route of 853 km, the bus will go via Kagal in Kolhapur district followed by Belgaum, Dharwad, Hubli, Haveri, Harihar, Davangiri, Chitradurga, Tumkar and making a final stop at Bangalore.
