KOREGAON PARK: One of Pune’s most famous landmarks, the German Bakery located on the North Main Road in Koregaon Park has been damaged in a blast. Initial reports suggest this was a LPG cylinder blast, however, ATS and other law enforcement agencies are not ruling out foul play. TV reports and images show that there is no damage to the inside of the bakery, but the exterior are totally gutted.

Reports suggest that six people have died and over 40 are injured. The injured have been admitted to the Inlaks Budhrani and Sassoon Hospitals.

Sources are now reporting that this may not be a simple blast. The area is important since it is opposite to the Osho Ashram and also located a stone’s throw from the Chabad House where there was a threat of terror attack some months ago. The Koregaon Park area is also one that is favoured by foreign tourists and is the preferred location for tourists to Pune.
