TOI: Five long years after a woman was found dead in a city hotel, the Bund Garden police woke up on Thursday to register a murder case! The police claim that they received the post mortem report only a month ago.

The incident happened on October 7, 2003. The body of a 35-year-old unidentified woman was found at Madhav hotel on Tadiwala road. She had checked into the hotel along with a man four days before she was found dead. In the hotel register, the man’s name was entered as Ramanna from Matheran. He disappeared from the room before the body was found. Initially, a case of accidental death was registered at the Bund Garden police station.

Inspector S.M. Nadgoda said the post-mortem report has revealed that the woman was strangulated to death after which a murder case was registered. A police team has been sent to Matheran for investigations, he added. When asked about the delay, Nadgoda said the post-mortem reports came a month ago. “We will check why it was delayed.”
